Fundamentals in Lactation CAPPA Community Lactation Educator 2 Day Workshop

This seminar is intended to increase the participants knowledge, skills, and abilities as it relates to fundamental lactation theory. The course material is also intended to enhance professional attitudes and values as related to breastfeeding and the provision of one to one breastfeeding care and support. This seminar is designed to satisfy the Core Competencies in Breastfeeding Care and Services for All Health Professionals as outlined by the United States Breastfeeding Committee (no endorsement by the USBC is implied).

CAPPA Community Lactation Educators may be considered qualified to provide one to one breastfeeding support and counseling as a Community Breastfeeding Peer Counselor. CAPPA Community Lactation Educators may also be considered qualified to provide basic lactation support and referrals in the home and clinic setting, health department setting, WIC agencies, pump rental depot setting, and within hospital or free standing birth centers.
