What is the CLC course?
Principles of Lactation Management - Texas WIC
This course is designed to prepare health-care providers to appropriately and adequately support breastfeeding women and their infants. The material is presented at a level to fill the gaps in professional education. DSHS believes that a positive, proactive approach to breastfeeding promotion and support can only be achieved through team effort. Thus, all levels of health-care workers directly affecting breastfeeding women and their infants are encouraged to attend.

Nils Bergman, MPH, MD, PhD is a world renowned physician, has a Masters Degree in Public Health and a PhD in clinical Pharmacology. He developed and researched the concept of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) for premature infants. This concept dramatically changed the paradigm for neonatal care and improved the survival of premature infants. He currently is Lecturer and Research Associate in the Department of Human Biology, Department of Child and Adolescent Health and Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Cape Town in South Africa.
Lactation Counseling and Problem Solving - Texas WIC
This course is designed for health professionals who counsel breastfeeding mothers and would like to improve problem-solving skills. The emphasis is in critical thinking and the helping process. It is an intermediate level course and is activity oriented. Course content is reviewed on a regular basis by the authors in accordance with the Standards of Practice set forth by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
