Portland Community College: Lactation Management 1

This course is designed for health care professionals who want to improve their lactation skills, or for students who want to become lactation consultants. This is the first 45 hrs of a 90 hr lactation training program. The second 45 hr course will be offered in Winter 2013. Taking these two courses will meet the lactation training requirement needed for the IBLCE Lactation Consultant exam in 2012 or later.

This Fall course includes four in-person all day classes (30 hrs) held at the PCC CLIMB Center in Portland OR, 10 hrs of online distance learning classes, plus activities and homework assignments to be completed outside of class. Online distance learning classes may be attended live, and will also be recorded so that they can be viewed at the student’s convenience, as long as the related assignments are completed by the specified due dates.

Students who are not a licensed/registered health professionals need to complete prerequisite courses prior to attending the PCC Lactation Management course series.

The PCC Fall 2012 Lactation Management 1 course includes all the following dates:
-In-person classes from 8:30-5:30 on Oct 1st and 2nd, and Nov 5th and 6th, 2012 @ the Portland Community College CLIMB Center for Advancement in Portland OR plus
-Distance learning classes from 12noon-2:30pm on Nov 12th, 26th, Dec 3rd, and 10th, 2012.
