La Leche League of Illinois presents, “Breastfeeding, Roots to Wings” at the Holiday Inn, Schaumburg/Rolling Meadows on March 9-11, 2012.
La Leche League invites Nurses, Midwives, Lactation Consultants as well as families of La Leche League of Illinois to join us for an informative, educational and entertaining expo. This event will be held at the Holiday Inn Schaumburg/Rolling Meadows on March 9-11, 2012. Hear from speakers including Dr. James McKenna, Diana Cassar-Uhl, IBCLC, and Marian Tompson. Participate in continuing education classes, parenting sessions and pampering.
Join La Leche League of Illinois at University of Illinois for three days of seminars, classes and exhibits dedicated to informing health care professionals and families alike of the immeasurable benefits of breastfeeding, child health issues, parenting concerns and more. From recent studies on breastfeeding benefits for both mother and child, to opportunities to support new and expectant mothers, La Leche League of Illinois Area Conference promises to enlighten and inform.
The conference kicks off Friday with continuing education sessions presented by Diana Cassar-Uhl and Dr. James McKenna throughout the day. Dr. McKenna will speak on topics including the importance of infant and mother bonding and cosleeping safety. Ms. Cassar-Uhl will speak on the most current research on Vitamin D supplementation for mothers and children, and also Maternal Hypoplasia and Insufficient Glandular Tissue
The conference continues Saturday and Sunday with a variety of break-out sessions. Continuing education sessions are available as well as sessions focused on the family. Classes from parenting support to choosing the right education for your child, birth options and healthcare choices and options, cloth diapering introductions, green living tutorials, and babywearing demonstrations will be offered. Even sessions for fathers covering topics such as balancing your life as a father and Daddy play are available. Saturday evening, join in family entertainment.
Sunday, Marian Tompson, one of the seven founders of La Leche League International, will inspire us at a lovely brunch, families can choose from sessions such as communication techniques to help your marriage or partnership, transitioning into the workforce, placental encapsulation, Breastfeeding Twins, learning to use alternative feeding devices, and La Leche League involvement. Health Care Professionals can learn about Alternative feeding devices and communicating with Millennial moms.
The Exhibit Hall will be open throughout the weekend and feature materials covered in the sessions as well as items to make your parenting experience even more enjoyable.
